#MTB Equity #RepresentationMatters
The Bike Instructor Certification Program has joined the MTB Equity Coach Coalition to help make mountain biking more inclusive! We are fundraising to invite people who are Black, Indigenous, or People of Color to become certified as mountain bike instructors. Our goal is to raise enough funds to invite a minimum of 12 BIPOC riders to attend a BICP Ride Leader and Level 1 Certification. Invitations will include tuition. Additional funds will go to support these future coaches with a bike and gear – everything needed to get out and have a great time. “We continue to be humbled by the lack of diversity in our sport and want to do our part to bring more Black, Indigenous, and people of color into mountain biking. We want to level the playing field of entry into mountain biking and to the outdoors while we share our excitement with people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. While this sport can be expensive, it is our mission to introduce some equity through these invitations so that we are more truly and meaningfully inclusive.” – Kat Sweet, founder of Sweetlines and head of the MTB Equity Coach CoalitionEvery $ raised counts!
