BIKE INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION PROGRAM (BICP) ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NATIONAL INTERSCHOLASTIC CYCLING ASSOCIATION (NICA)
Bellingham, WA – The Bike Instructor Certification Program (BICP) is excited to announce its partnership with The National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). NICA recognizes the Bike Instructor Certification Program (BICP) as the official Mountain Bike Skills Instruction Certification for their mountain bike coaches.
Perfectly paired: NICA’s mission and vision is to empower youth to become part of a thriving & engaged cycling community by building strong minds, bodies, and charachter. These sentiments are mirrored in BICP’s mission to advance the global standard for mountain bike instruction, driving an inclusive community empowering members through education, certification, service, and experience. This shared mission will greatly impact the future of Mountain Biking.
“I am extremely excited for this partnership, says Shaums March, Founder and Lead Instructor for the BICP. “Mountain biking is growing as a sport on all fronts. We’re seeing more kids on bikes earlier; paving the way for a bright future for our biking communities. BICP & NICA will create stronger, more experienced coaches and parent supporters.“
Says Michael Eastwood, NICA’s Coach Licensing Senior Manager. “BICP has provided the foundation for the NICA On-the-Bike Skills curriculum which teaches NICA coaches how to teach mountain bike skills to our student-athletes. Partnering with BICP has allowed us to provide our coaches with a solid foundation of skill instruction which will ensure that their student-athletes are able to have a fun and safe time mountain biking. We encourage NICA coaches to continue their development as skills instructors by enrolling in a BICP course to engage in a greater depth of instruction and feedback that will increase their comfort and confidence as coaches.”
