#Motivation Monday – In our “What Inspires You to Coach?” Series, Tal Rozow – #BICP Level 3 Certified Instructor & owner of Sababike, shares his inspiration:
“There are so many things I love about coaching that’s it hard to pick one really. Generally, I’d say it is about the satisfaction of helping people enjoy their time on the bike, ride safely and with confidence, but if I have to narrow it down…
I think what I like most about coaching is getting people to do things they never thought they would on a bike and to understand that your age doesn’t matter; there’s always something new to learn.
Here’s one of my favorite examples:
One of my students, Izzy, was about 68 when he started joining my sessions. Although he didn’t know much about mountain biking, he had a very good attitude to learn more about it. Fast forward — Three years later he joined an enduro workshop I hosted with Joseph Paule, a coach from the French Alps, followed by an enduro\all-mountain trip to Slovenia. We even rode some Enduro World Series sections that week!
So whenever someone says they are “too old to learn something new or to change their habits”, I use the example of my student, Izzy, in response. If a student has a good attitude towards progression, a good coach will take care of everything else – that’s a pretty cool thing to know how to do.” 🙂
