BICP Scholarship Program 2026
BICP is proud to operate as a self-funded nonprofit organization, with the majority of scholarship support provided by a combination of BICP membership dues and philanthropic contributions.

Scholarships are awarded with a dedicated emphasis on empowering youth leaders, adaptive athletes, and individuals from historically underrepresented communities. This focus reflects BICP’s broader mission to build a more inclusive and equitable cycling culture through professional education and community-based leadership.
Investing in Inclusive Cycling Leadership
The BICP Scholarship Program is made possible through the generous support of donors and philanthropic partners who believe in expanding access to outdoor leadership, professional development, and equitable recreation opportunities.
Each scholarship represents more than financial assistance—it is an investment in a community leader who will strengthen local cycling networks, mentor new riders, and promote safe, inclusive participation in the sport.
With donor support, BICP can remove financial barriers for individuals passionate about cycling education who might otherwise be unable to pursue certification due to systemic or economic constraints.
Scholarship Recipients are Community Ambassadors
Scholarship awardees serve as ambassadors of BICP’s mission and of donor-supported impact. Recipients are expected to actively share their journey, contribute to an inclusive cycling culture, and demonstrate real-world application of their certification through community engagement.
This includes:
- Leading group rides or skills clinics.
- Promoting safe and welcoming riding environments.
- Supporting youth, adaptive athletes, and underrepresented riders.
- Sharing experiences that inspire future leaders.
Scholarship Structure and Financial Responsibility
BICP scholarships operate through a reimbursement-based model to ensure accountability and successful completion of certification requirements.
Scholarship recipients are responsible for initially covering:
- BICP Course registration fees.
- BICP annual membership dues
Following successful completion of the certification course and fulfillment of all scholarship obligations, BICP will reimburse recipients for the qualifying scholarship award amount.
Applicants are encouraged to review BICP policies regarding annual membership dues prior to submitting an application.
Scholarship Recipient Commitments and Expectations
Recipients of the BICP Scholarship Program are expected to serve as ambassadors of cycling education and inclusive leadership. As such, scholarship awardees agree to the following responsibilities:
Community Impact Statement and Personal Profile Submission
Scholarship recipients must submit:
- A brief personal biography.
- A high-quality photograph.
- A written statement describing how they intend to use BICP certification to create a meaningful impact within their community.
These materials support BICP’s ongoing fundraising and outreach efforts by highlighting recipient stories, community leadership goals, and the broader value of investing in cycling education.
Public Recognition of BICP as an Education Provider
Recipients agree to acknowledge BICP as their professional training and certification provider by listing BICP on:
- Personal social media platforms.
- Professional or organizational websites (when applicable).
This recognition helps strengthen awareness of evidence-based cycling instruction and reinforces BICP’s role in developing safe, inclusive community leaders.
Outreach and Storytelling Through Social Media Engagement
To amplify the mission of BICP and inspire broader participation, scholarship recipients are required to complete four social media posts during the first year following certification.
Posts should highlight:
- The value of BICP certification in the recipient’s leadership development.
- Community-based events or activities where certification is being applied (e.g., group rides, skills clinics, youth programming).
- Advocacy for cycling safety, education, and inclusive riding environments.
These outreach efforts help build visibility for scholarship-supported leadership and encourage continued donor investment in equitable access initiatives.
Commitment to Inclusive Cycling Leadership and Community Service
As part of their scholarship agreement, recipients are expected to actively promote BICP’s mission by:
- Advancing safe and inclusive cycling practices within their local community.
- Participating in or leading at least one group ride, skills clinic, or cycling education event within the first year of certification.
Through these efforts, scholarship recipients directly strengthen local cycling networks, expand access to instruction, and foster welcoming spaces for riders of all backgrounds.
