BICP COURSES OVERVIEW
The Bike Instructor Certification Program (BICP) offers professional training and certification for individuals who lead group rides and/or teach mountain bike skills camps and clinics. The Bike Instructor Certification Program was built on proven successful methods for nearly two decades in development and was created to establish a standard for mountain bike skills instructor training.
Bike Instructor Certification Program (BICP) courses are offered globally year-round by our 28 Instructor Trainers in the USA, Canada, Australia, South Africa, and Europe.
RIDE LEADER CERTIFICATION
The BICP Ride Leader course was developed to introduce the basics of leading mountain bike rides. It is perfect for volunteers and/or people working as Ride Leaders for mountain biking clubs or after-school programs.
An online course that certifies an individual as a BICP Ride Leader.
The Ride Leader course will guide and build confidence to lead safe mountain bike rides. Providing the necessary tools and awareness to lead a group on safe mountain bike rides geared towards beginner trails.
- Lead individual or group mountain bike rides professionally, systematically, and safely.
- Assess the level of each rider in their group through a Pre-Ride Assessment.
- Prepare and implement action plans in an emergency.
- Make responsible choices in picking trail routes for specific groups.
- Assist other instructors at clinics, camps, and events.
LEVEL ONE FUNDAMENTAL SKILLS INSTRUCTOR CERTIFCATION
A 3-day course that certifies an individual as a Fundamental Skills Instructor.
This course teaches stability and biomechanics, teaching strategy, site selection, goal setting, proper demonstrations, keywords, progressions, and error detection for 16 Level 1 Fundamental Skills.
LEVEL TWO INTERMEDIATE SKILLS INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION
A 3-day course that certifies an individual as an Intermediate Skills Instructor.
The BICP Level 2 Certification course was designed for intermediate instructors who have been coaching for more than a year and have a firm understanding of the BICP fundamentals.
This course has everything you need to teach Intermediate Skills.
Trail Flow and Basic Drops and Jumps.
LEVEL THREE ADVANCED SKILLS INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION
This course is under construction and will be released in Fall 2025.
WHAT IS THE RECERTIFICATION PROCESS?
All BICP instructors are required to re-certify in person every four years.
All recertifications require the participants to take the full 3-day course. To recertify please find a course that meets your schedule and contact the BICP administration for your discounted rate.
