The BICP uses the Minimum Ride Standard when testing for Certification.

BICP Certification courses are designed to teach participants how to instruct skills, not to learn the skills themselves.

All participants are expected to be proficient in the skills listed below and capable of performing them at or above the BICP Ride Standard before attending the in-person certification course. Demonstrating these skills successfully during the course is a non-negotiable requirement for certification. If you are not yet proficient, it is essential that you take the time to develop these skills before registering.

Important Distinctions:

  • Proficiency: The ability to perform the skill reliably and effectively.
  • Mastery: The ability to teach the skill with confidence and clarity.

If you need additional support to meet these standards, please contact BICP for information about a skills preparation course. We’re here to help you succeed.

Please review the BICP Level 1 Ride Standards skills demonstration videos.

Please review the BICP Level 1 Ride Standards prior to registering for the course.
