Training Triumphs
At Catalyst Sports, we’re dedicated to continuously improving our offerings and delivering exceptional experiences for our adaptive athletes. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that we recently hosted not one but two adaptive mountain bike instructor training programs!
We brought together advocates for adaptive mountain biking (aMTB) from across the country to participate in the aMTB Level 1 training curriculum offered by the Bike Instructor Certification Program (BICP). Over six intensive days, several Catalyst staff, and volunteers, and representatives from esteemed organizations such as North Carolina Adapted Sports, Higher Ground, Montgomery County Parks, and Friends of Patapsco Valley State Park immersed themselves in adaptive instructor training. Together, they honed their skills and expertise to serve our adaptive community better.
We’re incredibly proud to share that several team members have successfully completed the training and are now BICP aMTB Level 1 certified instructors. This certification opens up a world of possibilities for us, enabling us to integrate coaching into our programming to enhance adaptive rider skill and safety.
We are also proud to share that Bill Beverly-Blanco, one of our adaptive kayak instructors, received his ACA Level 1 Kayak Instruction Certification. Bill will be taking on a lead role with our adaptive kayaking program this season and offering our volunteers the opportunity to gain their ACA Level 1, later in the summer.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Move United and Craig H Neilsen for their generous sponsorship, which made this training possible. Their support has empowered us to elevate our programming and advance our mission of inclusivity and empowerment in outdoor sports.
Looking ahead, we’re excited about the positive impact this certification will have on our adaptive athletes. With our enhanced knowledge and skills, we’re better equipped than ever to support and guide our riders on their mountain biking journey. We can’t wait to hit the trails together and continue pushing boundaries, breaking down barriers, and creating opportunities for all.
Stay tuned for more updates and announcements as we embark on this exciting new chapter in our journey with adaptive mountain biking!
