Length: A 3-day course that certifies an individual as a Drop Bar Fundamental Skills Instructor.

Dates: October 23-25, 2026 (8 am – 6 pm).

The online prework must be completed two weeks before the in-person testing.

We respectfully acknowledge that this course will take place on the traditional territories of the Ipai, Luiseño, and Kumeyaay/Kumiai-Tipai whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day.

The online prework will take approximately 24 hours, including a quiz after each chapter.

This course teaches stability and biomechanics, teaching strategy, site selection, goal setting, proper demonstrations, keywords, progressions, and error detection for all the Drop Bar Fundamental Skills.

The BICP uses the Minimum Ride Standard when testing for Certification.

The BICP Certification courses are skills teaching courses, not skills learning courses.

Therefore, the in-person certification course participants should be well-versed in the skills mentioned below and be able to perform them at or above the BICP Ride Standard. Successful demonstration of these skills during the course is a prerequisite for certification. Therefore, it is mandatory for the participants to be proficient in these skills before attending the course. Demonstrating these skills successfully to achieve certification during the course is mandatory.

Being able to perform the skill = Proficient at the skill.

Being able to teach the skill = Mastering the skill.
