Mike Riediger
Instructor Trainer - Adaptive
Mike is one of our Canadian Instructor Trainers for the Adaptive Mountain Biking curriculum. Mike is the CEO of Kootenay Adaptive Sport Association (KASA), a world leader in adaptive mountain biking, and also helped to develop the BICP Level 1 course. Kootenay Adaptive has quickly become the premier provider of adaptive mountain biking coaching, guiding, instruction, and sport/program development worldwide. Mike has been an IT since 2020. “I enjoy the work because I am able to build up that adaptive mountain bike community wherever I go and support organizations and individuals in building their capacity”.
“I became an IT while working with the BICP to further develop their adaptive mountain biking certification pathway. The BICP understood the importance of supporting and delivering material to adaptive sport organizations and how best to move forward with that. They also were 100% supportive of having mountain bikers with disabilities supported through their certification process”.
“I want to continue to contribute to community growth and inclusion in mountain biking. From continuing to update out aMTB trail standards to events, instruction, and growth of adaptive mountain biking, but also supporting kids and youth programs and trail accessibility”.
When not in the office, Mike can be found riding trails in Western Canada, following KASA events from the pacific to the prairies. You can follow KASA’s work on Instagram or through their YouTube channel. KASA also produced a documentary showcasing adaptive athletes completing a human-powered trek from Revelstoke to Nelson BC.
Mike and the KASA team provide a number of services to athletes, such as:
