Ever since I was big enough for my Dad to fit me on a metal tank Honda 50 I’ve been riding bikes, or anything with wheels really. Makes it a bit ironic that I’m now living life in a wheelchair but hey, I’m still on wheels! Back in the summer of 2010 I suffered a spinal cord injury as a result of breaking my back from a mountain bike crash leaving me paralyzed from my stomach down. Not wanting to lose mountain biking or the lifestyle that goes along with it, I got back behind bars riding an Explorer 3 built by Sport-On Handcycles. Since then I have been trying to push the sport as far as I can as well as promote it to any organization or individual willing to listen. Guiding and coaching individuals who might have never thought they would be able to ditch their wheelchair and ride through nature’s backyard is a thrill, and following them through their progression is the ultimate reward.
